The construction of the mansion, which is located on a 103 m2 plot of land, started at the same time as the Perili Köşk (Yusuf Ziya Pasha Mansion), which is located on the European side of the Bosporus and is now a haunted mansion.The building is one of the first concrete structures built on the Bosporus. The Bosporus steward (Boğaz Kahyası) Kara Mehmet started to build this four-story mansion with brick and roof tiles brought from Marseille by barges. The building still stands on its original bricks and even a part of the roof is preserved with “Saccoman Freres, St Henri Marseille” tiles.

The construction of the mansion was suspended due to the lack of workforce found since the beginning of World War I and because Kara Mehmet had to transport ammunition with his barges. The building, which was completed after the war, is now home to the fourth generation of the family. The mansion, which has never changed hands, has preserved its originality with the renovation of the electrical, water, heating installation, and permitted restoration. Most of the wooden joints of the building have been preserved in their original form. All the doors, ceiling connections, and domes have been preserved in their original form. Since there is no one from the family to inherit the way of life in the mansion, the building is waiting to welcome new owners and their future generations and present a peaceful, quiet and friendly neighborhood life.

The mansion has 3 entrances; 2 residential and 1 shop entrance. The ground floor has a gross area of 70 square meters, consists of a boiler room, a shop, and a room. The boiler room on the ground floor and a room are accessed from inside the mansion, from the first floor. There are two entrances to the mansion that opens onto the street, each leading directly to the first floor at different locations.
